"I think there is no better way to invite a human being to view their body differently than by inviting them to be an athlete, by revering one's body as an instrument rather than just an ornament. It's a really great way to reorient how you see your body so you can see it as this incredible, awe-inspiring machine that you need to fuel well in order for it to function."

Alanis Morissette, Singer/Actress

Your constant energy, enthusiasm, cheerfulness, and optimism is truly amazing. The self-confidence that you portray in the girls will benefit them for their whole lives. I'm convinced every student of yours must become a better person just knowing you and having contact with you. Thank you from the bottom of my heart!

Mental Performance Interns

Every year, Elysian Insight welcomes two highly motivated, up and coming professionals as Mental Performance Interns within our Mentorship program. We invite applications for internships from graduate-level students in human kinetics, counseling, and psychology. Internships are customized both in length and degrees of engagement to meet the student intern’s graduate program requirements and thus vary from 4-12 months. Our interns contribute to Elysian Insight’s work both behind the scenes as well as with direct client experiences. This may include shadowing, co-leading Team Talks and Workshops, and/or taking on clients for supervised One-on-One consultations. Elysian Insight is proud to welcome this year’s talented Mental Performance Interns to the team and grateful for their dedication, commitment, and contributions.

Onika Green Onika Green, MHK Candidate

Onika is currently completing her Master of Human Kinetics degree, with a concentration in sport intervention and consultation, at the University of Ottawa. With a bachelor degree in honors psychology, from the University of Guelph, Onika has a passion for inspiring and supporting others in their journey to mental health and wellbeing. As part of her undergraduate co-op degree, Onika worked in respite care, child-care, and corporate environments to apply her training in the field of psychology. These experiences have awarded her the skills to effectively work with individuals and groups of all ages and backgrounds.

Onika grew up in competitive dance, and loves to be involved in the world of sport. In addition to dance, she grew up running cross-country, and playing other sports like soccer, basketball, and volleyball. As an athlete, Onika knows first hand the physical and emotional strain that can arise when your heart is invested in your sport. This has shaped her approach as a mental performance consultant, as she practices from a place of compassion, support, and understanding for the unique experiences of each athlete she encounters. Her interests as a consultant include improving both performance and wellbeing. Onika has recently organized a symposium for retired dancers, to support their wellbeing, and inspire re-entry into the dance community. In addition to this venture, Onika is currently working on her internship as a graduate student. She presently works with Glen Carin Skating Club, Ottawa Internationals Soccer Club, The School of Dance, West Carleton School of Performing Arts, and more! She has worked with individual athletes and teams, in a variety of different sports, as well as with cardiac rehabilitation patients at the Heart Institute of Ottawa. Onika’s experience with, and understanding for, sport and performance has inspired her to make a difference in the lives of each individual she has the pleasure of working with. She is thrilled to join the consulting team at Elysian Insight, and looks forward to the opportunity to make a positive impact.
